PILDAPPA has a genuine stayers pedigree and it’ll be put to the test over the course of the next month as we aim her at the WA Oaks on March 29th.  A 3 year old filly who’s taken a little time to mature, she’s only had the three starts so far, and hasn’t been that far away from the winner on each occasion. This Saturday, she’ll line up in the $100,000 1000 Guineas at Ascot and from a good draw, we’re expecting her to be a rough place chance.

Obviously with this class of race, she’s up against the better 3 year old fillies going around at the moment, all of whom are also Oaks bound (2400m). She’ll be a 66/1 chance or thereabouts, and whilst we don’t realistically expect her to win, what we do want to see is her finishing close up to the winner. That’ll do us as we can then take the next step as we progress up in distance with her. She looks like a genuine stayer in the making to me, but be aware that she’s also very lightly raced which also means very inexperienced. If we don’t get to the feature race next month, there’s always the Belmont Oaks (2000m) in Winter.

Anyway, we’re in there with a shot. She’s sound, very healthy, drawn well, has one of the best jockeys in Perth on board, and her recent work leading into this race has been good. Have a place ticket on her…
