The Wizard booked for Prize Catch

May 05, 2017

Belhus Racing three-year-old Prize Catch will have the services of champion Perth jockey William Pike when lining up in the Gannons Racing Colours Handicap (Race 7-1400m) at the opening Northam meeting of the year on Sunday.

Affectionately known across the country as 'The Wizard', Pike will have his first ride aboard the promising youngster this weekend, who appears well placed back in grade after an eye-catching last start performance.

The Lindsey Smith-trained son of Zoffany was having his third run back from an eight-week let up over 1400 metres at Ascot on April 22 and ran on well along the inside rail to snatch third, beaten only a length on the line against some quality opposition.

BARRITUS SHOWING PROMISE: Another Lindsey Smith-prepared member of the Belhus Brigade, Barritus, is developing nicely and will be stepping out in an education trial at Lark Hill on Monday.

The unraced War Chant two-year-old finished a close-up fourth at the Lark Hill April 24 trials, with the form out of that heat stacking up well through the likes of recent Ascot placegetters Pym's Royale and Lies In Disguise. He may not make it to the races this preparation, however, Barritus is a horse worth keeping an eye on.
