ILLUSTRIOUS BLUE ON CUPS TRAIL...

Sep 17, 2011

ILLUSTRIOUS BLUE runs second up in the Hill Stakes at Rosehill today, and trainer Chris Waller is wanting to see a promising run with a view to progressing on towards a campaign aimed at the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups.

"If he can finish midfield today, I'll be very happy" Chris told the owners yesterday, adding "if he's running on strongly and finishes close to the winner, I'll be over the Moon".

The race looks a two horse affair on paper between the hot favourite Trusting-last start winner of the Chelmsford Stakes, and Gai Waterhouse's good stayer Tullamore, but from our persepective, we'd love to see Illustrious Blue making serious ground in the run to the line with a view to running him in the $400,000 Metropolitan Handicap over 2400m in two weeks time...
