It’s a Deal-it’s a Dundeel! This great looking filly by one of the better stallions in Australia, is a graduate of the very prestigious Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, and that can only mean one word-Quality! The Easter sale is one of the World’s top yearling sales, and attracts international buyers from all over the world. Yearlings are meticulously screened for both pedigree and physique, and are much sought after.
With that in mind, I sent our bloodstock agent John Price to Easter with one objective-to find us a nice filly in the $100,000-$150,000 price bracket, that we can race successfully in Perth, and then have residual value as a potential broodmare when she’s eventually retired from racing. Johnny looked at over 200 horses at the sale, and interestingly this filly was one of the first he saw, and she made it onto his original list that he sent me. Johnny says it was as close to ‘love at first sight’ as it can possibly be between man and horse!
Dundeel needs little introduction to Aussie racegoers. A Champion 3yo, a six time Group 1 winner and weight for age superstar of Australia, Dundeel is now one of Australia’s most exciting stallions having produced 5 Group 1 winners from his first 2 crops. Dundeel announced his arrival as a major sire-in-the-making with a rapid-fire sequence of six stakes winners in the first four months of 2019. Three of them were Group 1 winners: Timeform Australia’s co-Champion 2YO & Champagne S. G1 winner Castelvecchio; Champion New Zealand 2YO Yourdeel; and South African Classic winner Atyaab. The following Spring they were joined by Dundeel’s fourth Group 1 winner, the Caulfield Guineas G1 winner Super Seth. Both Super Seth & Castelvecchio retired to stud in 2020, but it didn’t take long for Dundeel to unfurl his 5th Group 1 winner, the Western Australian star Truly Great. His 5 wins from 7 starts between October 2020 and January 2021 featured three dominant Group victories, including the $1 million Group 1 Kingston Town Stakes.
Interestingly for the pedigree buffs, only Danehill (7) and Redoute’s Choice (5), two of the great stallions of modern times, have ever sired more Group 1 winners in their first three seasons than Dundeel! Now, don’t you want to own a Dundeel too?
This filly is from Mining Tycoon, a winning Redoute’s choice mare, who, since being retired to stud, has had 3 of her progeny to race and all have been multiple winners! USMANOV is the best of the trio, having won 9 races including the Bribie Handicap in Brisbane. Mining Tycoon is also a half sister to the 3 x Group 1 winning BENTLEY BISCUIT who won 12 races-8 of them in succession, and his haul included an AJC TJ Smith Stakes, an All Aged Stakes and a BRC Cup, all Group 1 races, and The AJC Shorts at Group 3 level too, just for good measure.
This filly’s a ripper by anyone’s standards, and to help ensure success, we’re sending her to Ascot to be trained by one of the best in Perth, Trevor Andrews. Trevor has proven that he can win big races with 2yo’s, 3yo’s and older horses. Over the years, he’s trained the winners of 3 x Derbies, 2 x Railway Stakes, 2 x Karrakatta Plates, a Kingston Town Classic, a BMW Stakes in Sydney, a WA Oaks, 3 WA Guineas, 2 Sires Produce Stakes and 4 Magic Millions 2yo Classics! You can have plenty of confidence that your horse will be in the very best of hands when trained by Trevor Andrews. He’ll be doing his very best to get this new filly-and you-right where you want to be-IN THE WINNERS CIRCLE!
