Good bodied, well bred, compact, racy type who looks a chance to be an early runner. Her pre sale x-rays are rated as low risk (which is the best you can get), and her pre sale endoscope (so an endoscopic veterinary check of her upper airways) is Grade 1, which again, is the best you can get.

Purchased from the Cambridge Stud draft at the New Zealand Bloodstock Yearling Sales in Karaka 2019, this filly by the multiple Group 1 winning Champion galloper SO YOU THINK, is from a European thoroughbred family steeped with feature race success!

As a racehorse, So You Think was amongst the World’s best. He won an impressive 14 races, 10 of them at the elite Group 1 level in 2 hemispheres, including the WS Cox Plate twice (one behind WINX), and the Prince of Wales Stakes on the biggest racing stage of all-at Royal Ascot. He achieved a Timeform rating of 133 which is the highest rated Australian colt of the modern age. As a stallion, he produces a seemingly endless stream of winners including many at the top level of racing such as D’ARGENTO, INFERENCE, LA DIOSA, SOPRESSA and GOLD RUSH. He stands at Coolmore Stud for $44,000.

On the female side of this filly’s family are an impressive array of European feature race winners. Her dam Shanya, although unplaced from just three starts, is a half sister to the Group 1 winner SHALANAYA and the Group 2 winner SHANKARDEH who was the joint Champion 3yo female stayer in Great Britain in 2011. The filly’s second dam Shalamantika was a winner over 2000m in GB and was also stakes placed at Ascot. The filly’s third dam is SHARAMAN a winner at 2000m and 2400m in France which included a win at Group 3 level. This family is recognised as the Aga Khan’s family and also includes the Epsom Derby winner SHERGAR!

In summary, she’s a neat racy type that shouldn’t take too long to get to the races. She’s by proven winner producing stallion who was a former Champion racehorse winning an incredible 10 Group 1 races, and from a female family that’s studded with black type, feature race winners throughout Europe.

5% shares are $5,437 and include all costs such as the auction purchase price, transport from New Zealand, breaking in, insurance and all syndicate fees to the end of September 2019.

HOOF NOTE: Potential Future Residual Value:

The importance of future residual value when purchasing young horses should be taken seriously when considering whether to buy a colt or a filly. Whilst almost all colts end up being gelded and are therefore suitable only for a further career off the track, fillies and mares, if they’ve shown ability on the track are worth considerably more as potential broodmares. To buy into a family like this is very rare indeed. This is The Aga Khan’s family! If she were to do well on the track, then there’s another pay day waiting when she eventually gets sold as a potential broodmare. It could even be just the same from a financial point of view of winning a big race!
