High Quality Magic Millions/Westspeed Colt!
Trainer: Trevor Andrews (Ascot).
By the same stallion that’s given us WA’s Champion 3yo and G2 WA Guineas winner KING OF LIGHT, comes this impressively built colt by the shuttle stallion Earthlight.
With his oldest SH progeny just 3-year-olds, Earthlight’s best is yet to come, and this colt is from a half-sister to the Group 1 winner and $3.7M earner GYTRASH. He appealed as a strong colt with a great neck and shoulder, well-muscled forearms, correct legs and big, powerful hindquarters.
Just the first foal of the mare Pouakai, his pedigree and build suggest that he’ll run early and be suited to sprint races from 1000m to 1400m. We’ll be targeting races such as The Magic Millions Classic, the Karrakatta Plate and The Sires Produce Stakes as a two-year-old, and then hopefully stretching out to the 1600m of the WA Guineas, just as King Of Light did in his three-year-old season.
He’ll be trained at Ascot by Trevor Andrews who described him as, “the best walk of any yearling at this sale”. He’s eligible for the Westspeed Bonus Scheme which means additional prizemoney can be earned for each of this two and three year old seasons, and he’s been nominated for the Magic Millions Perth Race Series too.

This is a nicely put together attractive filly from Book 1 of the 2026 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale.
As well as being a half-sister to three winners already, she’s also a half-sister to the highly rated Basset Hound who’s had three starts in Perth (all at Ascot) with absolutely no luck at all. A certainty beat first up when blocked for a run for the entirety of the straight when finishing fifth, he raced wide for the majority of the race at both his subsequent starts placing both times. He’s a very good horse in the making but the catalogue was printed before he started racing and so he doesn’t appear on the pedigree page (yet). He looks destined to upgrade her pedigree.
This filly impressed us at the inspections. She has a good body with a flowing topline and correct leg conformation, and she has a good temperament going about her business with no fuss.
Looking at the pedigree page, each of her second, third and fourth Dams are Stakes winners. IN A BOUND won the Group 2 Queen Of The Turf Stakes in addition to being placed three times in Group races, and her third Dam BOUNDING AWAY was one of the best race mares you could ever hope to see. An extremely talented and versatile horse, not only did she win the prestigious Group 1 Golden Slipper Stakes (1200m), The Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) and The Group 1 Champagne Stakes (1600m) as a two-year-old, but then also went on to win The Group 1 Flight Stakes and The Group 1 AJC Oaks and placing in a host of feature races in her classic year. Retired to stud, she only produced 1 to race and that was In A Bound.
Chairmanoftheboard is a half-brother to this filly, and he raced in England winning the equivalent of over A$300,000, winning at Goodwood (3) Haydock, Windsor and Newmarket.

Splintex - Hallowell Angel 1yo Filly

It seems everyone wanted a Splintex at the 2026 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale, and we bagged the first lot through the ring on Day 2.
With his oldest progeny just two-year-olds, the general opinion amongst local trainers is that they’re runners for sure, and when they hit their straps as a late two-year-olds later this season and into next as three-year-olds, you’re going to see some very nice horses.
This is a strong, robust, attractive filly with a big fluent stride and a purposeful walk powered by big hindquarters. Correct leg conformation means that there’s plenty to like about her, and she’s got a beautiful temperament which will stand her in good stead for a racing career.
Looking at her pedigree, every Dam on the page is a winner who has gone on to produce multiple winners. Her first Dam Hallowell Angel has had 2 to race for 2 winners, her second Dam Wheatland Lady has had 9 to race for 8 winners, and her third Dam Pay The Piper has had 12 to race for 10 winners. Featuring in this pedigree is the impressive VRC Lightning Stakes winner GYTRASH who won 10 races and over $3.7M.
She’ll be trained at Ascot by Josh Brown who last year made the move from Esperance to have a crack at making it in the city. A delight to work with, he’s got some of the best stables at Ascot and absolutely loves the stock of Splintex having 7 current two-year-olds by the stallion on his team at present, one of which is the very promising Yamanex who placed in this season’s $250,000 Magic Millions Classic at just it’s second start.

Peltzer - Miss Fraser 1yo Filly
1 Year Old Bay Filly

Dam: Miss Fraser
Sex: Filly

Location: Ascot, WA
Price: $2,650 per 5% share

Here’s a nice athletic filly that easily found her way on to our short list at the 2026 Magic Millions Perth Sale, and coincidentally when we compared notes prior to the sale, she was on Ascot trainer Josh Brown’s short list too!
Peltzer is a stallion that’s building nicely — not with hype, but with runners. He was an unbeaten two-year-old
and is described as the highest-rated two-year-old ever produced by
So You Think. And now we’re seeing it translate. Buccleuch has become his first stakes winner, a proper early sign that Peltzer can get a good one. We’ve got the highly promising Think Pink Daze here in Perth and we’re of the opinion that she’ll go to open class, and we’ve also two other progenies of Peltzer in the eastern states under our Grand Syndicates banner too. So, obviously we like the stallion!
Both Josh and myself were looking for early types at this sale, a horse that won’t take forever to get to the races, in fact one that’s forward enough to be a genuine chance to run in the early two-year-old races later this year and then into races like the Karrakatta Plate if proven good enough. It’s both our opinions that his filly fits the bill. She’s got good conformation, great balance and moves freely with a purposeful walk. So, admittedly, whilst she hasn’t got the best pedigree in the catalogue, as a physical, she definitely fits the bill and that’s why she was on the ‘buy’ list for both Josh and myself. And as an owner, you shouldn’t have to wait long before you see her at the races!
After a short break post the yearling sale, she’ll head off to the breakers to commence her initial ridden education, and it’s our intention that if she’s forward enough, we’ll see her making her debut in the early two-year-old races towards the end of this year.
Almanzor - Summer's Day 1yo Filly
1 Year Old Bay Filly
Sire: Almanzor
Colour: Bay
Dam: Summer's Day
Sex: Filly
Age: 1
Foaled: Oct 13, 2024
Location: Perth, WA.
Price: $4,370 per 5% share
At the 2026 William Inglis Classic Yearling Sale in Sydney, this filly by Almanzor was very high on our shortlist of preferred buys.
She’s a ripper on type, and as she presented so well not just on sale day, but also all through the week that we there, she was a no brainer to buy at the price. Our consulting vet described her as “an elegant, balanced, scopey filly of a good size with a very good walk and a good attitude”.
Looking at her pedigree, she’s from a Stakes winning Darci Brahma mare who won 6 races to 1400m and is a half sister to horses that have won in Hong Kong up to 1650m. Every dam on the page is a winner, and that includes her third dam CANNSEA, who was a Group 1 winner to 1200m, and her fourth dam BEACHSIDE who won the prestigious Group 2 VRC Wakeful Stakes (2000m). I’d suggest she’s a miler in the making, but also, because of the Almanzor factor, may just possibly stretch out to get 2000m and more. These are exactly the type of horses we like to buy, and for the auction price of $55,000, our opinion is that she was extremely good value and very well bought.
She’ll be trained in idyllic rural surroundings by Stephanie Bakranich who is based in Bullsbrook where her horses do most of their early conditioning work. Stephanie makes regular twice weekly trips to Ascot with her team for gallops. and always welcomes owners to join her there. She has the best vets and farriers at her command, and it’s absolutely guaranteed that your horses will receive the very best care and attention under her guidance. You’ll enjoy having your horse trained by Stephanie!
