XAARPHONIC struck again on the weekend when he notched up win number 7 by taking out the Altronic Distributors Handicap (1800) at Ascot.
It was a very popular win and it looked like half of Western Australia was on him as before the ES totes went on a few minutes before the race was scheduled to jump, the WA tote was paying $5.90 when as much as $9.50 was freely available in the bookies ring!
Once again, ridden patiently at the back of the field, Xaarphonic came with his now familiar long sustained run which took him from last to first, and this time it was ‘lucky seven’ for him.
Most notable for this win is the amazing strike rate being built up by jockey Peter Black on what must be his favourite horse for sure. He’s now had four rides for four wins on him!
Trainer Kevin McAuley who has a knack of getting the best out of previously discarded horses from other trainers is naturally over the Moon with Xaarphonic’s form. He’s now setting him for the $80,000 Geraldton Cup (2100m) on Sunday March 27th….
