Xaarphonic is after win number seven this weekend when he goes to Ascot and competes in race 4, a handicap over 1800m. Having won his six races to date for three different trainers, it’s current mentor Kevin McAuley who’s got the best of the horse taking him from battling to win a race at the provincials-to a city winner.
Kev’s had to go the long way around to get Xaarphonic to this stage though, and that included a stint in the South West of WA where Xaarphonic won at Albany twice and also Narrogin. A midweek city victory followed, and the horse now has the record of 4 wins and a placing from his last 5 starts.
This Saturday appears to be his biggest test though, as he’s pitted against much better horses than he’s raced against before. Winning form is good form however, and after an outstanding gallop on Tuesday morning, we expect another forward run (at good each way odds), from this progressive staying proposition..
