Great Waters made it a day to remember for his owners and followers with a dominant win in front of a very vocal and very festive Melbourne Cup Day crowd at Ascot on Tuesday. The four-year-old gelding, trained on the track by Martin Allan, made it two wins from his last three starts and he’s certainly starting to look now that he could be a horse that’s going places.
Popular jockey Jade McNaught gave Great Waters an absolute peach of a ride having him in a perfect position in running, settling fourth one out and one back, before she angled him into the clear after turning for home and let the horse do the rest, careering away from his rivals to win by over 3 lengths.
The son of Dundeel made it 3 wins from his 12 starts to date, and given his continued improvement, there looks to be plenty more in store for Great Waters and his fantastic group of owners.
