Laquetta’s Gift stamped herself as a filly with more than her fair share of ability, when she notched up the first win of her career at just her second trip to the races.
With the benefit of an encouraging second placing on debut at Belmont Park a few weeks earlier, trainer Martin Allan was confident that she could follow up with another good effort, and both he and her 20 owners weren’t disappointed! Having been blessed by the barrier God’s with gates 3 and 1 at her first two starts, the filly has shown very good track sense to take advantage of them and shown her best. Although just holding on to win narrowly at Northam, the filly has a big heart, a good motor and is a real trier. Martin is of the opinion that she’ll be better suited as she gets out over a little bit further in distance too.
Another of our bargain basement finds and offered at just $1,250 for a 5% share, Laquetta’s Gift is proving to be just that-a gift to her syndicate of owners who look set to enjoy a nice ride with this talented daughter of Sooboog….
