When we saw this filly entered for the 2024 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sales, it was a no brainer for us to pay close attention to her.
By Awesome Rock from Zarabeel, she’s a full sister to our current WA Derby aspirant Be Awesome who’s showing staying ability having won over 1600m and been runner up over 1800m. Plus we’ve also been lucky enough to race another daughter of Awesome Rock, the ultra-consistent Zaza Rock who at the time of writing has won 3 races and run 6 placings from her 14 starts.
Awesome Rock is one of the better stallions in Western Australia, having produced high class horses such as AWESOME JOHN (WA Derby), SEARCHIN’ ROCKS, RED SUN SENSATION, ROCKANORI, Cold Shizzle, Diamond Blue, Outspoken Lad etc. A New Zealand bred mare, Zarabeel (by Savabeel) won 3 races to 1900m, and hails from a family that shows it’s best over a mile and further. Looking at her pedigree page, this filly’s second dam won over 1600m, her third dam was a GROUP 1 WINNER who won to 3200m, and her fourth dam won 10 races in Europe to 3000m, so it’s pretty fair to say that she’s got a stout pedigree that should see her get a mile and further too. To further emphasise that this is a successful family, we can see that of the 17 horses to race produced collectively by the four dams on the page, 15 have been winners!
Because of her pedigree and robust physical type, I’d suggest that this filly is one that you could dream about getting to run in races like the Champion Fillies Stakes and The Oaks. With that in mind, she’ll be going to the stables of Grant & Alana Williams who not only train Be Awesome, but are currently the leading trainers in Western Australia and have a record of success in feature races which would be the envy of all who regularly race against them. Having been particularly successful with fillies over the last decade or so, there’s no doubt they’ll be giving this filly AND YOU every possible chance to get in the WINNERS CIRCLE!
Very importantly, she’s a WESTSPEED PLATINUM horse too, which means that she’s got all the bonuses to run for, and that means more potential prizemoney FOR YOU as one of her owners!
The Westspeed Bonus Scheme is a valuable initiative in the racing industry which offers many benefits to owners of eligible horse in Western Australia. In addition to providing specific races for eligible horses to compete in, the key advantage is the lucrative opportunity to earn additional prizemoney through a horse’s success on the track. As an example, a Westspeed Platinum horse earns a bonus of $33,000 for every metro prime win as a 2 & 3 year old, in addition to $6,600 for running second and $3,300 for running third. They’re pretty handy bonuses and they all add up! For midweek racing, it’s $16,500, $3,300 and $1,650 respectively, and for races in the provincial areas, winning Westspeed Platinum horses receive a bonus of $8,300 to the owners during their 2 and 3 year old seasons. It’s pretty much money for nothing compared to returns won by non Westspeed horses! The bonuses serve as an attractive incentive to participate in racing, which in turn fosters a competitive and vibrant racing scene, bolstering the overall appeal of the industry.
You should have a lot of fun racing this filly!
