Deep Purple brought up her second career win when taking out one of the 2400m events at Mornington on Sunday November 5th.
Ridden the perfect race by jockey Noel Callow who didn’t get overly anxious about the tearaway leader, Deep Purple was always well positioned and set about challenging for the lead turning for home and never looked in doubt down the short Mornington straight in front of a big crowd who attended the club’s second biggest meeting of the year. She went nearly two seconds faster than the maiden race over the same journey and trainer Robbie Laing was delighted with the effort paying particular praise to the mare’s stallion ILLUSTRIOUS BLUE who he said, throws very good types that can obviously stay all day.
Robbie also has Deep Purple’s younger 3yo full sister ‘Violet Light’ in work, and there’s also another full sister (2 year old) in Perth, who’ll be trained at Ascot by Trevor Andrews and will be available for syndication very soon…
