Our 3yo filly DEEL HER IN announced herself as a serious contendor for some big races on the horizon with a dazzling last to first effort in the $125,000 Challenge Stakes (Listed) at Ascot on Saturday.
Having just her fourth trip to the races, she was ridden patiently by Shaun O’Donnell who took advantage of the moderate pace and got her going early enough to be back in touch approacing the corner, and giving her every opportunity to unleash down the outside-which she did with devasting effect, and certainly belying her 10/1 status in the betting ring.
Trainer Trevor Andrews was obviously delighted with the win, and said after the race that whilst he’s fully aware that this is her first campaign, as long as she’s handling it all well, she can progress to the three feature fillies races coming up, they being the Ascot 1000 Guineas, the Natasha Stakes and the WA Oaks.
In winning The Challenge Stakes, which is a Listed event, Deel Her In became the 35th individual Stakes Winner for her sire, Dundeel.
