The owners were cheering, the hats were flying and and their were more high fives happening than the cheesy final of the Australian Spelling Bee when ‘Classy Cat’ won for us at Belmont Park on Wednesday!
All but two of the new group of owners were on course to cheer her on and they certainly got their money’s worth in a stirring finish in which she prevailed by a short margin. Jockey Stephen Parnham rode a terrific race, and always had her in a good position before making good use of the cut away rail which helped get her over the line.
A newcomer to our team, Classy Cat is a lightly raced 4yo by the handy stallion Mosayter from a mare who won over a journey-suggesting that she too might get over significantly more ground than the 1200m of her first up win.
Trainer Ivan Haggerty was obviously thrilled with the win and said that on the strength of it, he’d now raise the bar with her and her next mission would be a 60+ rated fillies and mare race also at Belmont Park on Saturday week (September 19th).
