Our three year old giant ‘Bobby Benzine’ impressed trial watchers at Belmont on Monday with being runner up at just his second trial outing. Looking more in stature like the wooden horse of Troy, and having the brains to match, Bobby is described by his trainer Paul Jordan as his ‘special needs child’. Despite being a slow to pick up on things, the impressive son of Kempinsky can gallop, and when learns to put it all together, he should develop into a nice, staying type.

Experience has shown us that it could take quite a few runs before Bob realises what he’s actually there for, so I doubt that he’d be a reliable punting proposition when taken to the races. However, it could pay you to follow him in the future. He makes his debut in a 1200m maiden at Pinjarra this Thursday…
