Dissident filly Covert Rose has displayed more than average ability at her first two starts finishing runner up on debut in a real eye catching ‘be on me next time’ performance, and then franking that run with a sound win second up at Belmont Park on Thursday. It’s no wonder her syndicate of 20 owners are getting pretty excited about the future with their robust filly, as co trainer Grant Williams is already talking about setting her for The Western Australian Oaks (2400m) in early April. She’s certainly got the genes to go the journey with such stars as ARCADIA QUEEN, REGAL POWER, ACTION and ARCADIA DREAM featuring on her pedigree page. Ridden by William Pike, ‘The Wizard’ had Covert Rose positioned a little bit more forward than he did on debut, and the filly never looked like losing, albeit her winning margin wasn’t great. There’s plenty more in store for Covert Rose and her big syndicate of owners as she plots her way through the feature events for fillies in the coming weeks…
