Since first winning the Perth Trainers Premiership in 2016/17 in his own name, Grant Williams has been relentless in spearheading his stable to become one of the most successful in Australia. In fact, in terms of a Group and Listed race strike rate Australia wide, WILLIAMS RACING IS NUMBER ONE!

Horses trained either solely by Grant himself, or in more recent years trained in partnership with his wife Alana, have achieved stunning success on the track, and the honour roll of feature race wins makes for salivating reading and include amongst others, an incredible 9 WA Derbies, 7 WA Oaks, 5 WA Champion Fillies Stakes, 4 Railway Stakes, 3 Kingston Town Stakes, 4 Perth Cups, The McKinnon Stakes, The Oakleigh Plate, The SA Derby, The Australasian Oaks, The Winterbottom Stakes, and the $5,000,000 All Star Mile (first and second in that race) too!

This amazing achievement places Grant amongst the most elite trainers in Australia. Significantly, he’s trained or co-trained 42 group winners and 37 listed winners during this period, at a strike rate in excess of 20%. By comparison, Australian Hall Of Fame trainers Team Hawkes and Chris Waller have achieved a strike rates of 9.4% and 11.9% in group races.

Previously, the Williams Racing stable has predominantly trained for one client who’s horses have enjoyed incredible and sustained success as highlighted above. However, Grant now believes the time is right to change direction with their stable to allow a more diverse client base to enjoy the thrill of racing horses with them.
