“From a Stakes performing mare who’s had 6 to the races for 6 winners” – The Auctioneer
“A seriously nice horse” – The Vet
“He’s a ripper” – The Trainer
Each of the above quotes are attributed to this spectacular looking Magic Millions colt purchased in Perth for $100,000 (plus gst).
He’s such a high-quality individual that normally I’d be sending him straight to Melbourne or Sydney to be trained, but because he’s got that all important WESTSPEED PLATINUM eligibility against his name, and quite rightly because local trainer Trevor Andrews was the first to point him out to me, the logical decision was to leave him here in Perth and be trained at Ascot by Trevor.
BONDI is a stallion that’s currently in the news courtesy of his recent winners. A Group 1 and Group 2 placed son of the super stallion SNITZEL, he was represented by three winners in the week preceding the Perth yearling sale, they being the Ascot winning pair Bondi Plunge and Icebergs, in addition to 7 time winner Bondi’s Bubbles who took out the $250,000 Magic Millions 3yo Trophy. The speedy 2 year old Krysanova is also bred on a Bondi/Blackfriars cross.
This colt was in Trevor’s top 3 picks at the Perth sale, and with every dam on the page a winner, and his first two dams having collectively produced 11 foals to race and EVERY ONE OF THEM HAVE BEEN WINNERS, he was well worthy of consideration.
A terrific physical type with a good walk and temperament, he’s a good sized horse, quite an imposing type who looks like he’s a chance to get on with the job and run early. Because of that, he’s been entered into the Magic Millions Perth Race Series, and also as mentioned, he’s a Westspeed Platinum horse too so he’s got all the bonuses to run for throughout his two and three year old seasons.
The Westspeed Bonus Scheme is a valuable initiative in the racing industry which offers many benefits to owners of eligible horse in Western Australia. In addition to providing specific races for eligible horses to compete in, the key advantage is the lucrative opportunity to earn additional prizemoney through a horse’s success on the track. As an example, a Westspeed Platinum horse earns a bonus of $33,000 for every metro prime win as a 2 & 3 year old, in addition to $6,600 for running second and $3,300 for running third. They’re pretty handy bonuses and they all add up! For midweek racing, it’s $16,500, $3,300 and $1,650 respectively, and for races in the provincial areas, winning Westspeed Platinum horses receive a bonus of $8,300 to the owners during their 2 and 3 year old seasons. It’s pretty much money for nothing compared to returns won by non Westspeed horses! The bonuses serve as an attractive incentive to participate in racing, which in turn fosters a competitive and vibrant racing scene, bolstering the overall appeal of the industry.
You should be in for a lot of fun as an owner of this exciting colt.
