Horses in training sales (for two year olds) have gained momentum over the last five to six years, and are now very popular with owners and trainers alike. Not only can you can see the horses up and running, but you also get a good idea of their action, temperament and importantly, ability!
This colt was presented as Lot 90 at the 2022 Inglis Ready 2 Race sale. He’s by Shooting To Win, an outstanding racehorse who won the stallion-making Group 1 MRC Caulfield Guineas over 1600 metres, as well as winning the Group 2 ATC Stan Fox Stakes over 1500 metres. His three-year-old season saw him race against the best gallopers in Australia. Aside from his two Group wins, he was placed third in the Group 1 ATC Golden Rose Stakes over 1400 metres and the Group 1 ATC Randwick Guineas over 1600 metres.
At stud, from his first five crops to race, Shooting To Win has had 245 runners for 145 individual winners, including 7 individual stakes winners and 11 stakes-placed performers, including the New Zealand Group 1 winner MASCARPONE. His progeny have won from 1000 metres to 2400 metres, with the sweet spot being between 1000 metres to 1600 metres.
This colt’s dam is a Sydney city winning mare by Exceed And Excel, who won four races during her career, whilst at stud, she’s had four to race and all have been winners! Looking at the pedigree page, all three dams appearing there are winners, and at stud they’ve each gone on to produce multiple winners.
