This is a good looking, strong filly who was purchased from day 1 of the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling sale. She’s coming over to Perth to be trained by Williams Racing.

She’s by Deep Field, who’s been one of the most in-demand stallions at the Gold Coast sale. They sold for up to $1,000,000, and averaged around the $280,000 mark. Our filly, whilst big on type (physique) doesn’t quite have the blue blood pedigree that most of the others have got, and that’s why we were able to buy her for well under the average price at $100,000 even.

She was selected by our bloodstock agent ‘Gentleman’ John Price who has bought so many good horses for us sourcing them for both Belhus Racing Stables and Grand Syndicates. I always say that anyone with basic knowledge of a horse and horse racing can go to the auctions and pick the ones that go through for a high price, it’s actually a pretty easy thing to do, but John has that rare talent in that he can see something in a young horse that others don’t, and that’s why he continuously identifies and buys talented horses for much less than others spend. And in this filly, I’d like to think he’s done it again.

Deep Field is one of the most popular stallions in Australia. A very fast horse who was a dual Stakes winner and was also Group 1 placed from just 8 starts, Deep Field is in fact one of the fastest horses to go to stud in Australia in recent history, winning his first 5 starts by a combined total of 24 lengths, and that included setting a Class record on debut running 1100m in 1.03.18. He also set a new track record at Canterbury running 1100m in 1.03.04. His biggest win was at Group 2 level taking out the VRC TAB.com Stakes, in addition to winning the ATC Lightning Stakes at Listed level. As a son of the great Northern Meteor, he retired to stud as hot property, and now stands at Newgate Farm where he’s become the Champion 3rd Season Sire by both winners and earnings. His progeny consistently perform on the big stage, and most recently, he sired the winner of the 2021 Group 1 Longines Hong Kong Sprint in SKY FIELD (a former $175,000 yearling purchase).

This filly is a good, well balanced, attractive type, from a stakes performed mare who was good enough to win 4 races, 3 in succession up to 1900m, and also ran 4th at Group 1 level in the Queensland Oaks. There’s enough in her pedigree to suggest that she’ll be suited in races up to 1600m, and I’d love to think that races like the WA Champion Fillies Stakes, and the WA Guineas could be ideal target races for her should she show us the required ability.

  • The Bloodstock Agent: “Strong filly, not too big either, she’s just right to get cracking on with. Doesn’t have the pedigree of the bigger priced yearlings but she’ll run” John Price
  • The Vet: “Good body, attractive, well balanced type, turns good both left and right” Susannah Hawke BVsc MRCVS MACVSc
