We headed across ‘the ditch’ to New Zealand and ended up buying three colts at the NZB Karaka Yearling Sale, two by the new stallion PROFONDO. One of those colts heads east to join the Grand Syndicates team and be trained by Gavin Bedggood, whilst the other heads west to join the Belhus team and be trained at Ascot by Trevor Andrews.
The Perth bound colt is a stunning black colt from the family of the Group performed KERMADEC, TRIPLE ELEGANCE and SHOREHAM. He was offered for sale by Wentwood Grange Stud, Cambridge (NZ), and was the third top priced lot of their Book 2 horses at NZ$60,000 which was the median price at the sale. With the current exchange rate very much in the favour of Aussies buying from NZ, this colt fits into the ‘bargain’ category, and will be a fantastic addition to any owners’ stable.
Being a good sized, strong and very masculine type of colt, with correct conformation and plenty of natural presence about him-which is what we seek out at yearling sales, coupled with his deep and lustrous black coat, made him an easy pick for us. Buy into this horse and you’ll feel very proud to own him on raceday!
When he arrives in Perth, he’ll be trained at Ascot by Trevor Andrews. Trevor’s been one of the most consistent and successful trainers in Perth for over three decades now and has won a host of feature races almost too numerous to name. Horses trained by Trevor have won Oaks, Derbies, Cups, and juvenile features such as The Karrakatta Plate and Magic Millions Classics. Always a pleasure to deal with, his horses are amongst the best turned out on raceday, as is he himself!
This is a 20-share syndicate with the 5% shares priced at $4,990 (a small number of 2.5% shares are available at $2,495 each). The purchase price includes the share in the horse, and all other acquisition, agistment, transport, breaking in and training costs incurred from purchase right through to the end of June 2026.

Offered for sale as an unbroken 2yo on the Magic Millions (late October) digital auction, as part of a deceased estate dispersal sale, she’s by the ever popular stallion Gingerbread Man, a stallion who’s sired a number of good horses such as the Karrakatta Plate winner IMA SINGLE MAN, and high quality sprinters RED CAN MAN, PHANTA, ACHERNAR STAR, ESSENTIAL SPICE, the Belmont Oaks winner CHILLI IS HOT, and our own Fluro Neuro amongst many others. From an Oratorio mare, her second dam is the dual stakes winner Moodometer, who at stud has had 8 to race for 6 winners.

Gingerbread Man x Mercury Miss 2 year-old filly
She’s being trained in Perth by Stephanie Bakranich who has stables in a rural setting at Bullsbrook, and utilises the Ascot training tracks just a 30 minute drive away multiple times a week.
The share price is $1,240 per 5% share, which has been packaged up to include the auction purchase price, transport, agistment, breaking in, insurance to August 2026, and all other costs including GST right through to December 31st, 2025.

A lightly raced four-year-old gelding, KING OF CORDOBA has already shown ability—winning a Warrnambool maiden over 2000m when he led throughout at just his second start. Although he showed promise, he struggled for consistency in Victoria, so when the Grand Syndicates team decided to offer him for sale, I stepped in and bought him back myself—this time for a fraction of his original cost—with a plan to give him a fresh start here in Western Australia. He’ll be trained by Graeme Hammerquist in Geraldton, where I believe he’ll really come into his own. With a bit more maturity on his side and a suitable racing program, he looks perfectly suited to those 1900m+ races in Geraldton, and with natural progression, he could even shape up as a Geraldton Cup contender in time.
At the price he’s being offered for, I’d say he’s a terrific buy—particularly for racing enthusiasts in and around Geraldton who rarely get the opportunity to take small, affordable shares in a professionally managed syndicate like ours. After 30 years of doing this, I know a value horse when I see one—and King of Cordoba certainly fits the bill.
