Almanzor-a superstar as a racehorse in Europe, and now a headlining, leading stallion at stud in New Zealand.

All the big stables want to have the progeny of Almanzor in their stables because as the ad says, ‘The Almanzors’ get you to the big races’.

Unbeaten in 3 starts as a 2yo, it was in his third year that Almanzor really excelled. Wins in the French and German Derbies, and G1 Irish Champion Stakes where he demolished the strongest field assembled in Europe that year, and the G1 Champion Stakes at Ascot, secured him the title of Europe’s best 3yo and the World’s equal best turf horse sharing a lofty rating of 133 with the incomparable WINX.

At stud he’s a marvel at producing winners. From feature 2yo winners to milers, classic colts and fillies, to genuine two milers, Almanzor can and has done it all.

This colt is out of the well performed Savabeel mare No Tricks who won four races to 2000m, two of them at Listed level in New Zealand. At stud, she’s had two to race, both of them winners. Although there’s enough in the pedigree to suggest that he’ll get out to a mile and more, it’s his physique that took our eye. A strong, well grown type with good conformation, he’s a colt that walks out nicely and with confidence. After a month in a paddock post the yearling sale, he’ll begin his trip to Perth by stopping off in Melbourne where he’ll be broken in by Joe Cunningham who does the majority of our horses. Then after a short break, he’ll head to Perth where he’ll join the stables of leading trainers Grant & Alana Williams.
