Written Tycoon Filly

It’s not often that we offer a yearling by a Top 10 Australian stallion, but here’s a filly by WRITTEN TYCOON that’s come about because at the 2024 Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale last week, I just happened to find myself in the right place at the right time-and sometimes you just get lucky…

Lot 292, a filly by Written Tycoon from Wild Spirit was passed in at the auction, and the vendors who we have a very good association with, asked if I was interested. We hadn’t inspected the filly at the sale, assuming that being by Written Tycoon, she would have been out of our usual price bracket, but after getting our preferred bloodstock agent John Price to check her over and inspecting the all-important x-rays of all joints and the endoscopic examination of her airways, I was delighted when they accepted my offer of $70,000.

And then at Rosehill on Saturday, out came LADY OF CAMELOT, a daughter of Written Tycoon, and blew them away in the World’s richest race for 2 year olds-the Group1 Golden Slipper Stakes. In her wake she left a Blue Diamond winner and multiple other stakes winners including two unbeaten ‘superstar’ colts – one of them a $50,000,000 stallion prospect!

Already entrenched amongst the Top 10 in both the Leading Sires in Australia by Earnings and the Leading Sires in Australia by Winners tables in Australia, Written Tycoon’s position was elevated somewhat following Lady Of Camelot’s win. He now sits 4^th on the Leading Sires in Australia by Earnings table with only the superstar stallions I AM INVINCIBLE, SO YOU THINK and ZOUSTAR above him. He sits comfortably in front of household stallion names such as the mighty SNITZEL, the Champion NZ stallion SAVABEEL, and DUNDEEL to name just a few. On the Leading Sires in Australia by Winners table, Written Tycoon is now third behind just ZOUSTAR and I AM INVINCIBLE, and in front of stallions such as DEEP FIELD, CAPITALIST, DUNDEEL, SNITZEL, SPIRIT OF BOOM and SO YOU THINK.

So, if the thought of owning a filly by a Top 10 Aussie stallion excites you, wait-there’s more, because this lovely filly boasts a terrific pedigree page being the first foal out of a half sister to ADDEYEBB, one of the best racehorses in the World. A 4 x Group 1 winner, Addeyebb won the Ascot Champion Stakes, and in Australia won the ATC Queen Elizabeth Stakes twice and the Ranvet Stakes too. He won an additional 5 Stakes races from Group 2 to Listed level, and also placed a further 4 times at Group 1 level. Wouldn’t you like a racehorse like him!

I had no hesitation in bringing this horse to Perth to run in the Belhus colours. As Addeyebb was an Ascot winner, I opted for another Ascot winner to train our filly for us, and that’s Dan Morton who took his talented sprinter Scenic Blast to win at Ascot at The Royal meeting there.
