In what’s proved to be a very buoyant year in terms of yearling sale prices, there were just 3 sales in my opinion where you could buy at good ‘old fashioned’ value. That was at the Inglis Gold sale in Melbourne, the Magic Millions Perth sale (as usual), and the Inglis Scone sale in May. It was at that Scone sale that our ‘Chairman Of Selectors’ for Grand Syndicates John Price picked out the Sooboog filly out of Costa Laquetta for just $6000. I’d asked John to look for a cheapie for me to send to Perth and this filly was his choice. Considering he also bought the mighty BEHEMOTH for the same price ($6,000) a few years earlier, I thought it could be an omen!

In the sales ring, the progeny of Sooboog have been well sought after at the major yearling sales around Australia, averaging 7 times his service fee for the second consecutive year. More important than any price tag, are the trainers they have gone to – all major stables in the country are empowered with his progeny. On the racetrack, we’ve seen his 2 year olds commence racing in the 2020-21 season, and with positive results, he now sits in the Top 3 on the first season sires list and is in the Top 10 General two Year Olds Sires by Winners Table. He boasts 7 winners (8 wins) from only 19 runners. Stake’s-placed BIRDSVILLE, his best performer to date running 3rd behind INGRATIATING (Frosted) (2nd Blue Diamond, 3rd Golden Slipper) & GIMMIE PAR (Not A Single Doubt) in the Talindert Stakes at Flemington following his debut win.

Arguably the best bred, best looking, best value son of Snitzel at stud, this filly is your opportunity to either add one to your stable, or if you’re just starting out, at the price we’re offering her for ($1,250 for a fill 5% share), she looks an ideal ‘dip your toe in the water’ prospect.

She’s only the second foal from the Melbourne placed Written Tycoon mare Costa Laquetta. The first foal of the mare is-at the time of the writing-an unraced 2yo and has been placed in a trial. Looking at her pedigree, this is a prolific winning family. The filly’s second dam Costa Kara was a winner over 1500m who at stud has had 7 to race for 5 winners including two stakes horses. Her third dam Princess Kara won 5 races (3 on Melbourne city tracks) and at stud has had 8 to race for 6 winners, and the fourth dam Jumping Josephine was also a multiple winner in Melbourne and at stud has had 11 to race for 9 winners!

This filly is an early running type. Our plan is to have her ready to trial and race in the early part of her 2yo season, so if waiting’s not your thing, this filly should suit! She’ll be trained at Ascot by Martin Allan who’s proven to be very popular with our owners, and of course, is very good at training winners too.

She’s being offered into a 20 share syndicate at $1,250 each which includes all costs to October 1st.
