After being four times runner up from her first 6 starts, the Trevor Andrews trained ZAZA ROCK broke her maiden status when winning at Pinjarra today, to continue on with her largely consistent form.
It was a heady ride from Shaun O’Donnell as, with the blinkers going on Zaza Rock for the first time, he had to steer her forward from a wide barrier and make his own luck up on the pace. Taking the lead shortly after turning for home, Zaza showed a ton of tenacity and fought off all challengers to win narrowly, finally claiming that previously elusive first win.
Trainer Trevor Andrews was delighted with the mare’s effort post race, and said that his intention was to step her up in distance to a suitable race around the 2000m mark.
Today’s win took Zaza Rock’s overall record to 7 starts for 1 win, 4 second placings, and just on $36,000 in prizemoney.
