The talented, but often ungenerous gelding Apollo has had a sea change since he last raced, and is now in the care of Albany based trainer Steve Wolfe. The veteran trainer (I’m sure he’d agree that he’s now safely in that category) has been impressed with Apollo’s attitude and work since he arrived at the coastal stables, and is confident of winning races with him. Apollo’s first outing for ‘Wolfie’ was in a trial at Albany nearly two weeks ago, and on that occasion he settled in last position but hit the line full of running to finish a good third. On Easter Sunday, Apollo goes to the races for the first time for the Wolfe stable and he’ll line up in 1050m event at Albany. Whilst the journey looks to be a shade short for him, Wolfe is treating it like a second trial but adds that Apollo should be doing his best work on the line and the others won’t want to be doing anything wrong!
