Blackfriars mare Aquajinsky took 14 runs to break her maiden status however when she won over 2200m at Northam on Thursday, it gave the indication of better things to come.
Rated almost perfectly in front by apprentice Emma Stent who got the mare into a beautiful relaxed, stayers rhythm, Aquajinsky defied the flies and the heat that can make Northam so uncomfortable at this time of the year to ‘make all’ as they say in England and lead from start to finish. Although the margin wasn’t as big as we expected, the mare was stirred up before the race and overall it was a good effort.
Trianer Ivan Haggerty continues to do well with his small team having won races in the last 12 months with horses such as Minimalist, Classy Cat, Secret Business, Minilyo Miss, Barambas Bid and of course Aquajinsky.
The mare’s next run should be back at Northam in approx two weeks time in another 2200m race…
