Improving stayer Bobby Benzine notched up the second win of his career when scoring by the smallest margin possible at Northam on September 13th. Once again showing a distinct liking for the Northam 2200m journey where both of his wins have been, the 5yo gelding ran home impressively from last on the corner and just managed to put his nose in front on the line.
Ironically, the horse that he beat is trained by Ivan Haggerty-the renowned equine chiropractor who includes Bobby as one of his patients-so thanks for the helpĀ Ivan!
Winning jockey Shaun McGruddy rode a very patient race off the back of a hot pace and judged his run to perfection. He said he was ‘quietly confident’ on the home bend as the horse was travelling easily. His giant strides over the last 100m looked very impressive!
There’s a fair bit of improvement in this horse and I’m really looking forward to testing him in some better races…
