Having her first start in a race, Cheeky Charlotte might have started at twenty to one, but she certainly didn’t finish at ‘five past’ as the age old joke goes! In fact she scorched the already wilting turf by leading all the way to win by two lengths in the slick time of 58.46 seconds giving none of her oppostion even the slightest look in. It was an excellent training effort by Luke Fernie who took the filly to the races for the first time off the back of only one 400m trial.
Jockey Jade McNaught, who has won so many races when wearing the blue and white Belhus colours (she has her own set) took Charlotte straight to the front and the pari never looked like losing, in fact, Jade commented after the race that she couldn’t pull her up!
Having had a few hoof issues that has delayed her debut, the patience of her owners was well rewarded with the win, and the future looks bright for this attractive daughter of the speed stallion Winning Rupert….
