Consolidator filly Dancer’s Spirit made the perfect start to her racing career when winning first up at Albany on November 4th. Trained in the south west by Steve Wolfe, Dancer’s Spirit jumped smartly, led for most of the journey and won by 3/4 of a length at her home track under the guidance of top jockey Shaun McGruddy.
This filly is from BALLET GIRL, a winner of 4 races, all in the city, including the Listed Emu Export Classic in addition to running 3rd in the Champion Fillies Stakes. As a broodmare, Ballet Girl has also produced the stakeswinner EMPIRE DANCER (winner of the Belmont Oaks and Belmont Classic) and also the stakes placed Admiring (runner up in the Natasha Quality and WA Oaks), and thus Dancer’s Spirit hails from a very good, prolific winning family. Judging by the way she won first up-with a bit in hand by the way-there look to be more wins in store for her in the near future…
