He’s a Gunslinger made it a day to remember for his big group of owners when he led all the way to win at Ascot on Wednesday. Although leading the field wasn’t the original pre race tactic, jockey Jade McNaught seized the initiative when her mount jumped well and nothing else wanted to go forward-potentially keeping her wide which she wasn’t keen on. Jade’s riding in top form, she judged the pace absolutely to perfection winning by a length and three quarters, and in fact He’s A Gunslinger’s win was part of a treble for her on the day in what was a polished exhibition of riding.
Trainer Martin Allan was very confident his horse would go well in this race and many of the owners took his advice, loaded up on the punt and were well rewarded with as much as $9 being offered. The win was He’s A Gunslingers 3rd success from just 14 starts, and he’s run 4 placings too so the owners are getting a pretty good run for their money. There’s plenty more left too just going on Wednesday’s win, and all being well, he’ll now be given the opportunity to win a Saturday race…
