Courtesy of an absolute pearler of a ride by jockey Lucy Warwick, Navy Blue turned in an excellent performance to win at Ascot on Wednesday. Appearing just second up in this preparation and turned out looking very fit by his trainer Martin Allan, Navy Blue was always in a good position and settled midfield once the pace was established. Warwick made her move early and Navy Blue was challenging three deep around the turn, eventually going on to win with a length to spare.
Significantly, the win was achieved in a very timely manner on March 27th, (27/3) as the brand on his shoulder is 27/3! More significantly though, he became the first city winner for the stallion Illustrious Blue who stands at Glen Eden Stud in Victoria.
Navy Blue will now head towards the $100,000 WA Cup over 3200m at Ascot in April…
