Our bonny grey mare YAMUNOTRI won again last week and with all the Festive season hoo haa, I forgot to write a story about her, much to the trainers disdain who called me to complain! So here it is…
What a great training effort (as it is to win almost any race) by Fenella Martin to get Yamunotri over the line again. The mare is ‘in the zone’ according to Fenella, and she certainly has her racing in a purple patch of form. A better effort than Fenella’s though was the ride by apprentice jockey Natasha Faithful who took full advantage of the cutaway rail saving lengths on her rivals and she duly got up to win the race by a short margin. It was a very clever move.
As Yamunotri slowly creeps up in the ratings, it only gets harder for her now, and her test will come when she steps out against the better class of horses at her next few starts….
