Bel Esprit five year old THE PUPSTER scored the second win of his career when taking out the last race at Pinjarra onThursday (August 9th) by a very narrow margin!
Ridden by 3kg claiming apprentice Chanelle O’Grady, The Pupster was once again near the tailenders of the field rounding the home bend before letting down with his customary fast finishing burst right down the outside. He was ridden perfectly by Chanelle who showed maturity way beyond her years with the way she waited and balanced the horse up before choosing to make her run with the entire field to her inside. The margin was only a short head however, but both horse and rider looked to have everything under control in those vital extra six metres (the race was extended from 1600m to 1606m!).
The Pupster has now won twice and been placed once from just 7 starts for new trainer Brett Pope. With a new rating of 65 after this win, there look to be better races in store for him in the near future as he climbs his way up the ratings ladder…
