In an unusual event for us, we have two horses going around in the same race at Ascot on Saturday. Both the veteran galloper IT’S JUDGEMENT DAY and the much younger (and last start winner) BOBBY BENZINE will contest the 2200m event for 68+ rated horses which is race 7 on the card.
I’m hoping a gear change and some different riding tactics will help I’ts Judgement Day regain his best form. He’s been the chopping block at his last two starts, and it’ll be much better for him if he can get a nice soft run in the second half of the field. His work is good, and if things go his way, he can figure in this at ridiculous odds.
Bobby Benzine is a horse on the way up, and although he’s been in work for an extended period of time now, he’s showing no signs of going over the top. Saturday’s race of course is a giant rise in class from when he led throughout to win at Northam three weeks ago, but he’s more than deserving of a crack at better company whilst he’s fit…
