There’s A Thought, our 4year old mare by the Champion galloper So You Think, opened up her city winning at Ascot yesterday when she impressively won the class 1 event over 1800m.
A previous winner at Northam over 1600m, the step up to 1800m and a tricky draw proved no barrier to her success, aided by a very good ride by apprentice Keshaw Duran. The 1800m barrier at Ascot can be fraught with trouble if you’re drawn wide, as before you know it, you’re on to the first turn, but Keshaw rode the horse nice and cool, holding his position and eventually settling into a good spot. There’s A Thought, backed by a pedigree to go much further than today’s 1800m journey, was travelling easily coming to the home turn and never really gave her backers any cause for concern.
The next logical step now for the stoutly bred mare, will be to extend her out beyond 2000m…
