The grey mare YAMUNOTRI got us all excited at Belmont Park on Wednesday when she led all the way and won her first race in Perth since being purchased from NSW.
With a form line of 3,2 going into the race, we were pretty confident of her chances, and when she went unchallenged for the first half of the race, it made it virtually inpossible for the backmarkers to run a sufficiently fast enough last 600m to reel her in. At the end of the race, she had us all standing and cheering with the easiest of wins! Paul King rode her perfectly and was eased down on her in the last 50m.
Trainer Paul Jordan says the mare has plenty of ability and predicts that there’s quite a few more wins in store for her. Hopefully that’ll be this Saturday when she once again tackles fillies and mares company in a 62-74 race over 1300m…
