In-form Victorian rider Jake Noonan (pictured) is the new rider of Belhus Racing‘s staying four-year-old Deep Purple in Sunday’s Bet365 Maiden Plate (Race 1-2447m) at Geelong.
Trainer Robbie Laing is confident the services of Noonan, fresh from booting home Masculino at Moonee Valley last Saturday, and the return to turf racing will boost Deep Purple‘s chances this weekend.
The daughter of Belhus stallion Illustrious Blue was well fancied when racing third up over 2200 metres on the Pakenham Synthetic circuit last start on September 5, however, she got a long way back in running and was never able to work her way into the race.
Deep Purple has been screaming out to be tested over the mile-and-a-half journey and she gets her opportunity to prove herself on Sunday.
